Dr Kaushik Deb Honored with 3D PRINTING Award

An Award ceremony was organized recognizing excellence in 3D printing held with the 3D PRINTING WORLDTHINK –BOARD- MEDICAL AND HEALTHCARE ON 4 MARCH 2017 at The Lalit Mumbai, which was organized by Dr. Shibu John, CEO.  & Founder of Trinity Media & Marketing Solutions.
Dr.Kaushik Deb, Founder Director and CEO,  Diponed BioIntelligence was  honored with “3D PRINTING AWARD 2017-MEDICAL SERVICES & SOLUTIONS COMPANY OF THE YEAR” for the company’s contribution in medical services in 3D printing orthotics, prosthetics development of bio-inks, 3D printed medical implants, 3D devices for the stem cell activation and processing.
A healthcare revolution is taking place throughout the world, founded on the ability to create highly personalized 3D printed medical devices and patient-specific surgical simulation and direct printing of individualized implants and customized instrumentation. Diponed BioIntelligence was awarded “Uchattar Avishkar Yogana” funding recently by the Government of India Ministry of Health in corporation with IFT Hyderabad for indigenously developing 3D printed orthotics. Diponed is a personalized Healthcare Company and is also using 3D printing for personalized prosthetics development. Dr. Kaushik Deb said “Such advances in personalized 3D printed prosthetics can help patients in having a better quality of life.”
3D Printing is an additive manufacturing process that creates a physical object from a digital design. There are different 3D printing technologies, but all are based on the same principle: a digital model is turned into a solid three-dimensional physical object by adding material layer by layer. 3D printing starts with a digital file derived from computer aided design (CAD) software. Once a design is completed, it must then be exported as a standard tessellation language (STL) file, meaning the file is translated into triangulated surfaces and vertices. The STL file then has to be sliced into hundreds – sometimes thousands – of 2-D layers. A 3D printer then reads the 2-D layers as building blocks which it layers one atop the other, thus forming a three dimensional object.
A 3D printer can also dispense biological materials making bio-printing possible. Bio-printing can be achieved with layer-by-layer positioning of biomaterials as well as living cells. The precise spatial control of the functional materials allows for the fabrication of 3D tissue structures such as skin, cartilage, tendon, cardiac muscle, and bone. The process starts with the selection of the corresponding cells for the tissue. Next, a viable bio-ink material is prepared from a suitable cell carrier and media. Finally, the cells are printed for subsequent culture into the required dimensions. In contrast to conventional 3D printing, 3D bio-printing is more complex in terms of the selection of materials, cell types, growth/differentiation factors, and sensitivity of the living cells construction.
In 2014 alone, the 3D-printing industry grew by 35.2%. And although the industry saw a slight slowdown in 2015, innovations with 3D-printed products are visible among a wide range of industries. But perhaps the most exciting advances in 3D printing can be found in the world of medicine, where 3D printing is starting to shake things up, especially as the cost of 3D printing drops and the technology becomes more accessible.
There are plenty of other advances in the field of 3D bio-printing, and many of them have been a part of successful surgeries and treatments. In cancer treatment alone, 3D printing is making huge leaps forward. In 2014, researchers developed a fast, inexpensive way to make facial prostheses for patients who had undergone surgery for eye cancer, using facial scanning software and 3D printing. Just this past year, in 2015, another team of researchers found that it is possible to print patient-specific, biodegradable implants to more effectively cure bone infections and bone cancer.
Bio-printing has the potential of generating tissue constructs for regenerative therapy and transplantation, furthermore, printing cellularized hydro-gels can be used to create construct that bio-mimic natural soft tissues. “In Diponed we are working with many foreign laboratories and universities to 3D print functional stem cells and tissues like sking chondrocytes, osteoblasts and hepatocytes” said Dr. Kaushik Deb.
In the processes of bio-printing, bio-ink developments are one of the most challenging issues. For 3D bio-printing, the set bio-ink is required to hold the vertical print and bear the weight of the emerging structure. Bio-ink is required to interact with cells both in vitro and in vivo.
Cell printing bio-inks have the further requirements; to maintain cell integrity and viability during resuspension and passage through the print head and provision of a suitable environment for cell growth and function within the printed scaffold. Both natural and synthetic polymers are chosen. Natural extracellular matrix (ECM) components have been used widely such as collagen, fibrin, gelatin, hyaluronic acid, etc. Synthetic biocompatible polymers such as pluronic F127, polyethylene oxide and polyethylene glycol are used.
The great potential for the bio-printing differentiation of stem cells will hopefully be realized for use in regenerative therapy, with an ultimate goal of fabricating customized tissue constructs and complete organs seeded with host stem cells for implantation. Some interesting in vivo studies have shown promising results for 3D printing for skin regeneration.

It is hoped that that bio-printing stem cells will eventually produce patient specific, bespoke constructs for regenerative therapy. This may include matching the construct to a specific lesion size and shape, and even producing complete organs for implantation. It is recognized that this technology is still in its early days. One particular challenge that needs to be overcome is the slow fabrication rate. It has been estimated with current bio-printing equipment, the fabrication of a full human liver (a construct of 1000 cm3) would take up to 3 days to complete. This lengthy production time may reduce the stem cell viability. As current bio-printing techniques struggle to print concentrations up to 107 cells/ml, hence improved technology will be required to meet the density of 5 to 10 × 108 cells/ml they consider sufficient for tissue and organ function. The use of stem cells in tissue bio-printing has the important advantage when fabricating organs populated by non-proliferative cells, such as cardiac tissue, as stem cells can be expanded in vitro in order to accumulate sufficient numbers prior to differentiation. This has the potential of becoming more efficient as IPSC (Induced pluripotent stem cells) technology advances. Diponed Biointelligence is a predictive, preventive, participating and personalized medicine (PGM) company. The company is focused on developing innovative services and products to serve unmet medical needs. (Visit us at: www.diponed.com)

Aim for a healthy weight

Dr. Kaushik Deb
Dr. Kaushik Deb
The chances of risking your health with several diseases and poor health conditions are higher if someone is overweight or obese. It increases the risk for attracting many diseases. The more weight you gain, the chances are higher to suffer from heart related diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, liver related diseases, poor digestions etc. On the other side a healthy and balanced weight has several benefits- it enables you to feel good about yourself, it gives you more energy and focus and most importantly it helps you to lower your risk for suffering from the other problems.
You need to change the way you approach for weight loss, it can help you in being more successful at losing it. Most people willing to lose weight focus on one thing, i.e. weight loss. However, if you set your goals, start to eat healthy foods and avoid junk foods, become more physically active and disciplined, and get to know how to change behaviors and patterns, then you may be more successful at losing weight. Over time, these changes will become routine and part of your everyday life. The first step to losing and maintaining the weight is to set the right goal.
You must keep the right balance between the calories or energy that you get from food items and beverages with the calories that you use to keep your body going and physically active.
You must follow a healthy eating plan so it gives your body the nutrients it needs every day and helps you to stay within your daily calorie level. The balanced eating plan will also lower your risk for heart disease and such other conditions as high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol levels. A healthy eating plan includes- fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products. It also includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts. Cutting back on calories is a very important part of a healthy eating plan to lose weight. You must select the foods that are lower in fats, especially saturated and trans fats, cholesterol, and added sugars. To lose 1–2 pounds in a week, daily intake should be reduced by 500 to 1,000 calories. Staying physically active and eating less calories will help you lose weight in a right way and keep the weight off over time.

In today’s competitive world the people have developed a habit of ignoring these facts. They lack adequate focus on their health and fitness, but in long run it is bound to severally affect their health conditions. Dr. Kaushik Deb of DiponEd BioIntelligence, a leading  predictive-, preventive-, participatory-, and personalized- medicine (P4M) company suggest their highly successful product MT- SlimEd. According to Dr.Kaushik D. Deb- MT- SlimEd is 100% botanical and it helps in increasing metabolism and reduces 5KGs in just 3 months. Research points out the real cause of Hair Loss

According to the recent research, the real reason for Hair Loss in individuals is because of the presence of PFOA found in Teflon, in their blood. Hairline International Research and Treatment Centre released a report on the effects of Teflon that contains Perflurooctanoic Acid (PFOA), on hair fall. In the recent studies, it was proven that 80 percent of the cases visiting the clinic with hair fall problem are PFOA positive, which also caused some of these people with High Cholesterol and Hyperthyroidism. And 70 percent of these women developed Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD). The Report was unveiled on 15th December 2016 in Bangalore by DiponED Chief Executive, Dr. Kaushik Deb along with other Doctors in Hairline International.

How Teflon is considered to be harmful?

Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is a man-made chemical. It is used in the process of making Teflon and similar chemicals (known as fluorotelomers); although it is burned off during the process it can stay in the environment and in the human body for long period of time. Teflon coated pans are a common occurrence in most home, especially considering that these products are marketed for the health conscious. One of the substances it comprises is PFOA. Most of the fast food packaging as well as candy wrappers and pizza box liners contact food and papers that have traces of PFOA in them.

PFOA is found in some foods, drinking water, and in household dust. Studies have found that it is present worldwide in about everyone’s blood. Higher blood levels have been found in community residents where local water supplies have been contaminated by PFOA. The PFOA level is higher in the areas near chemical plants that use PFOA. People are exposed to PFOA from fabrics and carpets that are treated to be strain resistant. Internationally, there is a move towards reducing dependency on products that may contain PFOA based substances.

DiponED under the stewardship of Dr. Kaushik Deb has developed a focus on intelligent solutions- services and products to serve no-option medical conditions and unmet healthcare needs, through a personalized approach. DiponED current Personalized Medicine focuses on such various skin and hair treatments and also in other health care products.

Strategies to Prevent Heart Diseases

As can be expected from an organ responsible for getting blood throughout the body, the root of heart disease is when that blood flow is blocked. Certain risk factors make some people more likely to have heart disease; people with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes are more prone to heart disease than the ones without these conditions.

Healthy lifestyle and peaceful mind is not something people can expect in this fast moving world. But by adopting the healthy lifestyle today, you can avoid heart problems in the future. Your choices can influence your heart health. A positive lifestyle changes can greatly reduce your chance of heart disease which include the factors like:

Exercise and weight loss management. An exercise routine is a very important factor in the prevention of heart diseases. Excess weight means that there are larger chances of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Physical activity or everyday exercise can help reduce your weight by pulling down the blood pressure and blood glucose with it. The fact that it bumps up the level of good cholesterol also reduces the risk of heart diseases. However, even shorter amounts of exercise than these recommendations can offer heart benefits.

Healthy Diet. Maintaining a good diet can reduce your risk for heart disease. The best diet plan is to consume all kinds of healthy food. Foods that can reduce the risk of heart disease include beans, fish, green tea and other low-fat sources of protein like fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Avoid Tobacco, Nicotine and Other Drugs. The most crucial step you can take to lower your risk of heart disease is to quit smoking or tobacco. Chemicals found in these drugs can damage the heart, blood vessels and arteries. Nicotine in cigarette smoke narrows the blood vessels making it harder for the heart to function normally. The heart does not receive enough oxygen and increases the risk of heart disease.

Read the labels carefully. While shopping for grocery, one can check for the ingredients such as sodium, sugar, and fat. This helps you to understand about what you are eating and avoid ingredients which are responsible for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar.

Stress Management. Stress affects everyone in different ways. Stress can cause sleep loss, pain, and headaches, and can exhaust the body. Chronic stress can cause the heart to work harder. This can worsen any other risk factors for heart disease you may have. So, letting go of worries through exercise or yoga can contribute to a healthier and more relaxed lifestyle.
